For the Love of Yorkshire: Speak Up for Nature and our climate
Nature and Clean Energy Walk, from outside Holmfirth Library (HD9 3JH), 10.30am, Saturday 8th October
From 8 October to 16 October people across the country will be speaking up about the things they care about most that are threatened by climate change. You can see more about this here https://weekofaction.org.uk/
In Holmfirth we’ll be going on a Nature and Clean Energy Walk. Meet at 10.30am outside Holmfirth library.
Our journey will take in Malkin House Wood, Hinchliffe Mill and the beautiful River Holme Walk. We’ll be making occasional stops to point out modern and historic sites of clean energy as well to enjoy and talk about the value of nature to us- in terms of health and well-being, biodiversity and addressing climate change and its impacts.
We may have some interesting guests on the walk and will update this page with any news.
The walk will last 90 minutes and will end back in Holmfirth. Join us for a coffee at Longley’s Ice-cream and Coffee Shop (HD9 2JD) at 12pm.
The walk follows roads and footpaths. Please wear stout footwear and waterproof clothing for the walk. The walk includes some stiles. Some paths are uneven and may be muddy. There is one climb on the walk.
We have invited local MP Jason McCartney to join us for all or part of the walk. We will celebrate his leadership on climate change and call on him to support the Pledge for the Environment that some MPs have made in support of nature and a low carbon future after the Brexit vote.
