Join us: 7th March Time to Act London mobilisation

Time to act

As part of our ‘ECO-nomy’ campaign, we will be attending the ‘Time To Act’ Mass Mobilisation in London on Saturday 7th March – starting at Lincoln’s Inn Fields at 1pm.

You can read more about the demonstration and  campaign here

A group will be travelling to the event from Huddersfield and we would be delighted for others to join us on the train and walk with us on the demonstration. We wanted to let you know that train tickets have just become available and are reasonably cheap – but will, of course, become more expensive over time.

We have bought tickets through the ‘Trainline’ website for the following trains:

08:30 departing Huddersfield, arriving Manchester Piccadilly at 09:05

09:15 departing Manchester Piccadilly, arriving London Euston at 11:24

17:40 departing London Euston, arriving Manchester Piccadilly 19.49

20:11 Manchester Piccadilly, arriving Huddersfield 20:45

Even if you would like to make different travel arrangements, please contact us nearer the time if you would like to meet us in London to join us on the march.

We would like to stress that the end time of the Mobilisation hasn’t been announced so we have based our travel times on estimations.   We would also like to state that although it has been billed as a ‘Mobilisation’, as far as we know, the event will be a conventional street demonstration or march, arranged in liaison with the authorities.

The Mass Mobilisation will be supporting the Campaign Against Climate Change’s ‘Time to Act’ campaign which is intended to put pressure on political parties before the general election, and raise the profile of climate change. It is also intended to energise and strengthen the climate movement – not an end-point but a stepping stone, it will be followed by local action immediately before the general election, the Climate Coalition lobby of Parliament in June and planning throughout 2015 towards the crucial Paris conference.

The Campaign Against Climate Change says: We want the government to act on climate change. Not just to do something – to do enough to avoid climate chaos. This means investment not in new fossil fuels but in renewables – massive amounts. It means saving energy by insulating and converting all homes and all public and private buildings, and a shift from cars to public transport. It means a dedicated workforce to create this infrastructure – one million climate jobs. And it means the UK supporting a global agreement to cut warming emissions of all kinds, speedily, with fairness and justice.
