The Liberal Democrats group on Kirklees Council have signed up to the Tipping Point Declaration. Following this, they have submitted a motion to be voted on by the full council on Wednesday 5th November (Tipping Point Declaration motion to Kirklees Council).
Again, we would like to thank and commend the Liberal Democrats councillors for showing leadership on climate change. (Dewsbury Reporter pre-debate coverage of Lib Dem motion)
We will be speaking as part of a deputation to the full council at 5pm. Although only one person will be speaking, it is helpful to be joined by a number of people. Please could you let us know if you would be interested in joining us for this? We need to know this by Wednesday 29th October.
There are two other ways in which people can support the motion. We will be organising a lobby of the councillors from 4.15pm- 5pm outside the Town Hall.
We would also be grateful if anyone would like to join us in the public gallery for the vote from 8pm -9pm. Again, it would be helpful if anyone who would like to join us in the public gallery could let us know of their intention to attend and provide a mobile phone number (by Monday 3rd November) so we can inform them of any unexpected changes on the night.
We need to warn people that motions frequently get displaced due to time limits and have to be re-submitted the following months. This will not be apparent until immediately before 9pm.
