We had a great time in the sun on the anti-fracking march and rally in Manchester on Sunday 9th March.
About 1500 demonstrators marched in support of the camp at Barton Moss and to protest against I-GAS’s drilling and GMP’s policing. It was a colourful, lively march that included samba bands, street theatre and mass sit-ins in the road! Kirklees Campaign Against Climate Change were happy to add what we could to this mix!
Thank you to Jean for these photos.
The march was the largest march against fracking in the UK so far and brought together campaigners from across the region and beyond.
It came in the middle of court proceedings by Peel Holdings to evict the camp at Barton Moss.
In a Manchester Evening News poll last week three quarters of Manchester residents who voted said they opposed fracking. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/three-quarters-mancunians-oppose-fracking-6778067
