“With the fossil-fuel industry, wrecking the planet is their business model. It’s what they do.” Naomi Klein
Carbon Capital workshop – Thursday 4th July, 6.15-7.45pm, Coffeevolution basement, Church Street, Huddersfield
The UK finance sector is bankrolling climate change. Banks, pension funds and other finance companies are funding dirty energy projects that are destroying people’s lives and pushing the planet to the brink of catastrophe. Yet millions of people have no access to electricity.
New regulations coming into force later this year will mean the UK’s biggest businesses will have to report on their carbon emissions. But the financial sector has been let off the hook from disclosing the climate impacts of their investments.
Join us in demanding that banks are forced to disclose the carbon footprint of their investments by asking people to write to secretary of state for business, Vince Cable.
