We’re going to do a final stunt on the “eve” of the vote on the ‘clean energy target’ amendments to the Energy Bill.
On Sunday 2nd June, two days before the vote, we will do a stunt in Holmfirth involving mourners in front of a gravestone.
The gravestone will be in memory of the different things ‘killed by a dirty energy bill’ (CO2 cuts, jobs, affordable and secure energy) and people will act as mourners looking at the grave.
We will give out the remaining fifty or sixty fliers from our ‘clean energy vigil’ which provide information about the vote and urge people to contact their MP through the 38 degrees website.
The stunt will take place at various locations in Holmfirth. If you would like to join us, we’d be grateful if you could wear black or black and white. Please feel free to bring flowers if you’d like to put them ‘on’ the grave.
We will meet at 2.15pm at the benched area diagonally opposite Jason McCartney’s constituency office on Huddersfield Road. The stunt will finish at 3pm.
We have contacted Jason McCartney to ask him to tell us his position on this vote. We will run the stunt regardless of his position, on the basis that there may well be constituents of a number of MPs in Holmfirth on that afternoon and to raise awareness of the Bill more generally.
We will be contacting Jason McCartney before the stunt to let him know that it will be happening and will send him photos of the stunt later that day.
Please feel free to turn up and join us. If you would like to be informed of cancellations (e.g due to poor weather or illness), please email us your mobile phone number by 12pm on Saturday 1st June.
