Many thanks to all the people who made the ‘Clean Energy Vigil’ on Friday 10th May a great success!
Around twenty people including campaigners and green business people came to Huddersfield to call on local MPs Jason McCartney, Simon Reevell and Craig Whittaker to support the ‘clean energy’ or ‘green jobs’ amendment to the Energy Bill.
The event included readings, silences and a teach-in activity. You can read more about the vigil, including the text of the readings on

We were also able to share the news that, just a few hours earlier, planet earth passed a new climate milestone: carbon dioxide levels reached 400 parts per million for the first time in 4-5 million years.
We made two additional readings to mark this: they were extracts from two articles from the day’s news coverage. You can read these on http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/may/10/carbon-dioxide-highest-level-greenhouse-gas and http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/georgemonbiot/2013/may/10/carbon-dioxide-milestone-climate-change
We’ll inform our network as soon as we know the date of the ‘clean energy’ vote.
