‘Energy we can all afford’ / ‘Clean British Energy’ stall and stunt: Saturday 19th January 2013

Kirklees Campaign Against Climate Change campaign news banner

Please join us as we take action on the ‘Energy We Can All Afford’ campaign on Saturday 19th January- to inform and persuade other citizens and maintain pressure on our representatives.

The twin foci of the stall and stunt will be Friends of the Earth’s ‘Clean British Energy’ campaign (calling for the inclusion of the 2030 target for the decarbonisation of the electricity supply in the Energy Bill) and the ‘Energy Bill Revolution’ campaign (calling for the use of the government’s carbon taxes for a massive upgrade in the energy efficiency of housing stock to reduce fuel poverty).

Stall: 10am-12pm Market Place (off Kirkgate, HD1 2AA), Huddersfield Town Centre

Followed by a stunt: A ‘die in’ or a number of ‘die ins’ to raise awareness of the 7800 people who die each year as a result of living in cold homes (DECC figures). See http://www.energybillrevolution.org/whats-the-campaign/. The stunt may happen at various locations across the town centre.

Feel free to join us for all of, or part of these actions.

For a number of reasons we would prefer if people could contact us to let us know if they’re planning to join us. This isn’t essential but if you do, we’ll be able to inform you if the events are cancelled due to poor weather and will be able to plan for the numbers we’re expecting. Please email kirkleesccc@hotmail.co.uk.
